General Waste Management

One of the major problems on Dirk Hartog Island is the waste produced and left on the island.

To get ahead of this problem, the island's management is working together with the Department on a successful Waste Management Strategy.

Waste at the island's Lodge is strictly seperated and brought to the rubbish tip. 

We ask all of our visitors to keep on seperating cans, glass and general waste and take all rubbish back to the island's rubbish tip and not litter any campsites or the environment.

The island's Lodge will soon publish their new Waste Management Plan as well as a successful strategy to deal with waste on the island in future.

As a sustainable Tourism Resort located in a National Park, the protection of the environment and the conservation is one of our highest priorities.
